Roaster Profile: Sabbath Coffee Co.

Sabbath Coffee Co. is a newer roaster I’ve been following for a while on Instagram. When they asked about sending me coffee, I tried to play it cool, but as always I was excited to try something from a new-to-me roaster! You can buy Sabbath Coffee Co. coffees directly from their online store.

Sabbath Coffee Co. is a husband/wife team of native Michiganders from the east side of the state near Detroit. Trevor Graham and his wife started Sabbath Coffee Co. in 2015 to act on a mutual love of community and coffee. They currently are selling online and chasing wholesale accounts with local cafes, but Trevor tells me that they have big dreams for the future, so eastern Michiganders can probably plan on a brick and mortar Sabbath sometime in the not too distant future…? Sabbath Coffee Co. was founded around the idea that a cup of coffee can provide a much needed moment of rest during the day and that resting is a lost art for many people in our hustle and bustle society.

Sabbath Coffee Co. sent me their two current African offerings: Kenya Nyeri Gatamboya AB and Ethiopia Agaro-Nano Challa. According to Trevor, the Ethiopian is a high altitude, clean and refined cup that will appeal to light roast aficionados while the Kenya is fruity and sweet and also shines as a single origin espresso.

I’m looking forward to putting both through their paces, so look for reviews over the next week or two!
