Today is the kickoff for the United States Coffee Championships qualifying event, taking place all day today and tomorrow at the Kansas City Convention Center. As a transplanted Kansas Citian (I’ve lived here 8 years… longer than anywhere else in my 40 year lifetime!), I can’t tell you how exciting it is to have this event taking place here in the City of Fountains! I wish all the competitors and their sponsors the best of luck today and tomorrow and I will be around most of Wednesday, so stay tuned to my Instagram and Twitter feeds for reports and shenanigans and say hi if you see me!

If you’re in town for the competitions see my “What to do in KC During USCC Qualifiers” article and my page on KC’s coffee scene for ideas of where to go.

If you’re wondering what the heck coffee competitions are all about, check out Jess Steffy’s interview/conversation with the Brians from I Brew My Own Coffee!

Finally, if you’re a roaster or an equipment company and you want to talk about reviews and such, make sure you hit me up via email or social media and let’s try to chat on Wednesday!

I know you are busy today, but when you have a chance…any GOOD coffee in Northeast area? We office at 8th and Prospect and NEED a good cup of coffee as close as possible that delivers! Just kidding (not really). Please and thank you!!!

Sorry, I don’t know of anything in that neighborhood. Heading west to Quay Coffee in the River Market area would be your best bet for nearby specialty coffee.
